On Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, motorcyclist Alexis Paiva, 22, suffered an accident on the PY02 “Mariscal José Félix Estigarribia” route in Fernando de la Mora, just over a kilometer from the local city hall. According to the rider's own account, an uneven surface caused him to lose control of the motorcycle and fall.
Images captured by a camera in a vehicle following behind show that after the fall, Paiva narrowly escaped being run over by a truck traveling in the adjacent lane. Police officers passing by provided first aid.
The young man's mother, Desiré Fleitas, reported that he was taken to the Trauma Hospital and is doing well, although he is awaiting X-rays. The family says the area has already been the scene of several accidents and therefore intends to file a formal complaint against the Ministry of Public Works and Communications over the poor state of the road.
