Agricultural machinery imports in Paraguay registered significant growth of 29.5% in the first half of 2026, totaling 1,893 units acquired for a value of $177.4 million. The data were released by the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Marketers of Cereals and Oilseeds (Capeco).

The strong performance of the agricultural sector, especially driven by a historic soybean harvest in the 2025/2026 season, is cited as one of the main drivers of this growth. Another crucial factor was the appreciation of the guaraní against the dollar, which reduced the local cost of acquiring equipment abroad.

Tractors led purchases, with 1,097 units imported, an increase of 44.5% in quantity and 44% in value compared to the same period in 2025, totaling $75.3 million. The segment with the highest percentage growth was sprayers, with a jump of 66.7% in quantity, reaching 260 units and a value of $36.5 million.

Seed drill imports also had a positive performance, with 324 units (up 1.6%) valued at $22.5 million, representing a 17% increase in value. In contrast, combine harvesters were the only category to register a decline, with a 7% reduction in volume, totaling 212 units, and an 18% drop in value, which stood at $43.1 million.

The international commodity context was also highlighted. In the first half, Brent crude reached an average of $86.6 per barrel, up 22.4% year-on-year, while WTI stood at $82.1 per barrel, up 21.7%. Meanwhile, diesel imports totaled 951.6 million liters, a volume 2.3% higher than in 2025, with the average import price rising to $0.9 per liter, compared to $0.6 per liter the previous year.
