Two suspects arrested for cable theft in Carmen del Paraná; material recovered

The National Police arrested Antonio Javier Duarte Samaniego, 31, and Digno Ariel Cibils Chaparro, 32, accused of stealing a 40-meter extension cable from Playa Pirayú in Carmen del Paraná. The material was recovered during a patrol in the San Blas neighborhood.

Officers from the 9th Police Station of Carmen del Paraná arrested two men suspected of stealing an extension cable on Monday around 12:30 p.m. The action took place on a public street in the San Blas neighborhood, during a patrol following a report from the victim.

The detainees were identified as Antonio Javier Duarte Samaniego, 31, and Digno Ariel Cibils Chaparro, 32, both residents of Carmen del Paraná. According to the police report, officers were conducting searches when they spotted two men whose physical characteristics and clothing matched security camera images provided by the victim.

During the approach, the officers recovered a thick extension cable approximately 40 meters long, belonging to Carlos Yamil Simon, a 44-year-old Argentine citizen who manages Playa Pirayú, the city's main beach resort.

The detainees and the material were taken to the police station for legal proceedings. The case was reported to the on-duty prosecutor of Coronel Bogado, Noemí Llano. The investigation continues to fully clarify the circumstances of the theft.
