President of the Paraguayan Congress calls offensive messages on LED screen in Ciudad del Este an "affront to dignity"

The president of the Paraguayan Congress, Basilio "Bachi" Núñez, described the display of degrading messages and images on an LED screen in the primary zone of Ciudad del Este, near the Puente de la Amistad, as an "affront to dignity" and demanded an investigation to determine responsibility.

The president of the National Congress and the Senate, Basilio "Bachi" Núñez, issued an official statement on Friday, May 29, condemning the display of degrading messages and images on an LED screen in the primary zone of Ciudad del Este, near the Puente de la Amistad, as "an affront to dignity."

According to the lawmaker, the content shown for about two hours constituted a direct attack on the moral sovereignty of the nation. "Regional integration and coexistence among peoples must be based on respect, never on expressions that promote humiliation," Núñez said, demanding a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities to determine responsibility and impose appropriate sanctions.

The company responsible for the screen, Fast Print, initially claimed its systems had been hacked. The Congress president's statement adds to the wave of outrage that led residents of Ciudad del Este, the capital of Alto Paraná department, to dismantle the structure where the messages were projected.

"Paraguay deserves respect. Our country has historically built relationships of cooperation, friendship, and fraternity," the senator emphasized, reaffirming that defending national identity is a permanent and non-negotiable commitment of state authorities. This stance elevates the case to national significance, joining administrative actions and possible legal measures already announced by the Municipalidad de Ciudad del Este and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
