An ambassador of the Comando Vermelho is said to have confessed to the murder of 18 people in Paraguay

Paulo Cándido Oliveira Da Silva, 39, considered the "ambassador" of the Comando Vermelho in Paraguay, was arrested in Luque during Operation Puma Py and expelled from the country in June 2026. He reportedly confessed to Brazilian authorities to the murders of 18 people during his time in Paraguay, including the killing of Arnaldo Rotela Gauto, known as "the king of cattle rustling," who was killed in Yuty in August 2024.

Woman arrested with seven other people's ID cards in Arroyos y Esteros during elections

A 49-year-old woman was arrested in Arroyos y Esteros, Paraguay, during the simultaneous primary elections — party-level votes in which members select candidates for the general elections — after being caught with seven identity documents that did not belong to her, in what is suspected to be a case of vote buying.
